Business as Mission (BAM) arises out of a deep concern for the least developed and least reached nations of the world especially those in the 10/40 window. Since many of these nations are not accessible to cross cultural workers, a missional business established by a mission organisation, missionaries or supporters in a field country are used not only as a platform for legitimate visa purposes, but also as the actual ministry venue. 
The operation of the business is designed to bless the people of the local community. In and through the business, they can reach out to their contacts and evangelise the least reached and lost, thus fulfilling the Great Commission to the uppermost part (end) of the earth.
Why then is this strategy of choice not widely used as a sending model by the Churches? What are the challenges facing both the Churches and Believers in preparing and sending BAMers to the harvest field? What is the biblical basis for Business as Mission?
This seminar is an attempt to discuss and journey together as we explore this new paradigm. Come and listen to those who have gone there and done it to reach the nations.
 

Objectives of Seminar:
1.    Understanding what is Missional Business (MB) with focus on exploring BAM as a creative sending platform.
2.    What is the biblical basis for MB or marketplace ministry in fulfilling the Great Commission?
3.    What are the challenges in responding to be a BAMer?
4.    How and what role can the Church play in mobilizing BAMers?

Speakers

* Pastor JK served as a missionary in East Asia for over 2 decades. He ran restaurants, cafes, lodges, and a consultancy company integrating Kingdom mindset with entrepreneurial skill set. He also developed specialized BAM training for missionaries, designed sustainable business and intentional discipleship programs to mentor and bring transformation to the last, least, and lost. Now back in Singapore, he serves as a Mission Pastor in a local Church.

* Pastor Yeoh Seng Eng is the CEO of Care Channel and the current Mission Pastor of Pasir Panjang Hill Brethren Church. He was the HR Development Manager for Asia Pacific at GE Medical Systems and holds an M.A. in Intercultural Studies from Columbia Bible College. He served as a Tent-Maker ministering to the poor in the Philippines from 1998 to 2004. 

* Sister Kay is the daughter of a Pastor and felt called by God to serve cross culturally with SIM in South Asia as a Missionary.  She started and for the last 10 years run an educational missional business which by God's grace is profitable. Her business allows her to build relationships with women and their families so that she can share the Good News. 

* Dr Gilbert Soo Hoo is a missionary with SIM East Asia. Formerly a faculty member of Singapore Bible College (SBC), he is now an adjunct professor at SBC and Baptist Theological Seminary (BTS). He recently authored a book “Work and Vocation through the lens of Ecclesiastes” which explores the relationship of marketplace ministry and shed light between the sacred and secular.

* Dr Stanley Ling was the CEO of a chemical company before he joined SIM East Asia in 2005 as its Regional Director and stepped down from this position recently after 15.5 years. He studied theology at Trinity Theological College and currently is the Advisor to SIM East Asia and also chairs 2 SIM councils. He also lectures part-time at the Trinity Theological College. He was involved in missional business for many years.
